The hearing of Newcastle disease often send shivers down farmers spine.
I understand this and so is my guess you know why.
Over the years, it was believed that the NEWCASTLE DISEASE VIRUS can not be treated. In fact, it was said that once the infection enters the flock everything will be gone.
My first time hearing about Newcastle disease was in an agricultural science class in my middle school. Then, we were taught that this viral infection is not treatable. According to our teacher
- The dead bird(s) must be buried far away from the farm and the farm disinfected and allowed to fallow for almost 3 months before restocking.
- All contact materials must be disinfected and heat-treated for a minimum period of 3 weeks before they can be reused.
Funny?.
This idea held me back for years. I was scared I wasn’t going to make it in poultry if such disease exist.
Well, the reality is, these aren’t anywhere close to being true.
While the Newcastle disease is undoubtedly a pandemic, it can be treated if promptly attended.
Understanding the signs and symptoms of Newcastle disease is the first approach to providing a solution. While majority of the signs and symptoms are similar to other poultry infections, the Newcastle virus present with the following:
- Gasping
- Nervous signs or tremor movement
- Cough
- Bright greenish lose poop
- Inappetence
- Watery eyes
- Nasal discharges
and more
If you’re sure the kind of disease outbreak in your farm, these are the major signs to look out for.
If one or all the above are presented by a chick or more, you should isolate them. Keep them separate from the others to contain the spread of infection.
Look out for as many chicks as possible with any nervous signs and isolate them.
What’s next after isolation?
- Clean your Penn
- Change their wood shavings
Warning: Do not give any vaccines to your birds if you notice any abnormal behavior. I often hear farmers get excited attempting to vaccinate their sick birds. Well, that’s totally wrong. Giving vaccines to sick birds will only worsen their condition and spike up mortality.
Don’t get excited when you experience Newcastle disease in your farm. Stay calm and follow the process through.
The recovery process from Newcastle infection is slow but attainable. If you’re calm enough to follow the process, you may experience zero (0) mortality.
There are only recommended antibiotics to constrain the secondary effects of the virus and boost the birds immunity. However, resistance to these synthetic antibiotics is eminent since they’ve been used and abused over time. This is why cure is often very difficult with synthetic medications.
Over the years, all efforts to manage the Newcastle disease outbreak has proven less effective. Some countries has advised total Wipeout of the flock and disinfection of the Penn and allowing the farm to fallow before restocking.
Well, this haven’t been much helpful too. Such farms has often recounted reoccurrence putting farmers in bad shapes.
But, I’m happy to share this good news with you.
We have successfully kept the Newcastle Disease at bay with the natural (organic) remedies.
We have used this “natural (Organic) antibiotics combined with organic boosters and vitamins” to prevent and treat the NEWCASTLE virus successfully over the years.
